Robert's Western World- Nashville, TN
I've never really been into country music which may be a strange statement from someone who lived in the country music capital for four years. During that time though I did gain a love and appreciation for honky tonk.
Typically, if you live in Nashville you limit your downtown visits to birthday parties or showing out of town guests around. Every one in a while though, I would love to go to Robert's Western World. This is my personal favorite both because it's not overpriced like some places (I see you Tootsie's!) and because it's genuinely a good time. Unless you enjoy feeling like an extra in a CMT video, then by all means, go pay $8 for a beer at Tootsie's.
Like many of the bars downtown, Robert's has music all day, every day. Here it is more likely that you'll be privy to some excellent renditions of some favorites and a few surprises from time to time. John C. Reilly even sang one night!
There are boots lining the wall, good drinks, and an overall cozy atmosphere. I spent one Christmas here drinking whiskey when I couldn't get out of town to see family and it was fantastic. I try to visit every time I'm in Nashville. Just don't forget to bring cash to tip the band!
