Missouri Botanical Gardens- St. Louis, MO
Whenever you get a random warm day in that strange time between winter and spring in the midwest, you make the most of it. I recently found out that St. Louis city residents are eligible for free admission before noon on Saturdays at the Missouri Botanical Garden. I obviously had to take advantage of this. The more free things I do at home, the more I can spend on trips!
The best part of the expansive gardens is the Climatron which houses rainforest plants and a couple small waterfalls. It's a great place to go if you want to pretend you're on vacation, even if only for a few minutes.
The gardens can take awhile to go through if you haven't been there before with various types of gardens, a hedge maze, historic buildings (these cost extra), learning centers, and even a bridge where you can feed the koi fish. Make sure to bring some quarters for fish food!
This gem is right in the city so you won't have to go far to experience the beauty and feel like you're farther out in nature than you actually are. Just wear comfortable shoes and bring your camera :)
