A Look Into My Minimal Carry-On Makeup Bag
I wanted to share something different today and made a short video showing what makeup I'm traveling with. I've never flown with only a carry-on before and had to do a little research to figure out what I could bring.
The main thing I learned was that my liquids bag needed to be clear and quart sized. I got this one from Amazon but was checking out this cute animal themed set as well. My set came with a lot more containers than what is shown in my video but I only needed a few. It also came with a great set of stickers, a scraper, and a funnel to transfer product to the containers.
I'll talk about switching to mostly clean beauty in a future post but it's really helped me cut down the products I use every day. That being said, there's a lot of clean beauty products out there but I no longer end up with impulse beauty buys from the drugstore which means more money for travel!
What's in my bag:
All the items here meet the TSA standard of being less than 3.4oz or 100ml. It's important to note that no matter how much liquid is in a container, the container itself must still meet the 100ml standard.
Hair Story New Wash: This is a combo shampoo & conditioner I've been using the past 3 months that's been life-changing. It only takes a little and cuts down on time and space when traveling. Sure, I could use whatever's at the Airbnb but why put my hair through that?
Glossier Body Hero Body Wash: This body wash smells amazing and again, a little bit goes a long way.

Leahlani Skincare Bless Beauty Balm: I've been using this beauty balm morning and night instead of the oils I was using and my skin has never been better. It has a unique smell and doesn't take much. I had received this in a beauty box subscription and wasn't convinced I would buy it on my own since it's a little more than I would usually spend. After using it the past month, I can say that I'll 100% be buying this when I run out.
Biossance Squalane and Peptide Eye Gel: I had also received a sample of this and was surprised what a difference it made. After a long day of traveling, it's really refreshing to add this to my routine.
I also use Glossier's Skin Tint, Wowder & Brush, Stretch Concealer, and Cloud Paint in Beam. Basically most of their products are already small enough to travel with easily and provide a really lightweight look.
Glossier Boy Brow: This is also a Glossier item but deserves it's own shout-out. I've never actually known what to do with my eyebrows or how to do it but this gel is really simple to use and adds the extra something I was looking for.
Lily Lolo Mascara: This is one of the biggest items in my travel bag and yes, mascara counts as a liquid. Most importantly, this mascara comes off really easily. There's nothing more stressful than getting your makeup all over the towels or pillow cases at an Airbnb and this mascara prevents just that.
Pink House Glow Stick in Ice: I consider highlighter an essential, even in a fairly simple makeup bag. It can really perk you up when you travel and dress things up for a night out.
Oui Fresh Lip Gloss in Cosmic Brownie and Lipstick in Ginger Spice: This is the clean beauty line from the ladies over at A Beautiful Mess. When I travel I like to take something on the nude side like this lipgloss and something fun like the red lipstick. These are both really moisturizing so if you're in a new place climate you won't end up with a great color but cracked lips.
I also brought an eyeshadow palette but I'm not in love with it and it's one of the last things I've worked towards replacing in my efforts to clean up my beauty products.
