Every time I visit Nashville, I also try to get outside the city to one of the gorgeous state parks nearby. Awhile back I read a great post that outlined several impressive waterfalls within a couple hours of the city. This is a great way to catch up with my friends there that I don’t see very often as well as get some exercise between lattes and Southern food. On this trip we visited Burgess Falls, about a little under 2 hours outside the city.

Over the holiday weekend we went back to Castlewood State park for a short hike so I could try out my new Sony a6000. This time we went along the river trail. It was in the 60’s which is insane for mid-February but completely gorgeous. I love this park because it’s only about 30 minutes out of the city and has some scenic spots to view the river.

Castlewood is really pretty and very accessible for hiking, bikes, and even horse back riding. It was our first time there and we started off on the wrong trail so we only did a small portion of the Scenic River trail.  We’ll definitely be back again soon to check out the rest of the park!

Today I checked out the Laumeier Sculpture Park in St. Louis. As I’ve only been back in the area about a year and a half, I’m rediscovering places I hadn’t been to since I was a kid.
